Aerial Photogrammetry
Intergraph, a world leader in geospatial imaging and technology, has developed a highly innovative and precise turnkey
digital camera system to support aerial photogrammetric missions for GIS and
remote sensing using advanced DALSA image sensors.
Intergraph's Z/I Imaging DMC® (Digital Mapping Camera) system delivers small-scale or large-scale high resolution images of ground coverage detail at smaller than two inches. This modular system consists of eight DALSA CCDs: four 7k x 4k 29-Mpixel sensors used in four PAN camera heads and four 6-Mpixel FTF3020M sensors used in four multispectral camera heads. The innovative design of eight individual CCD array cameras into a composite system solves the problem of the size limitation of array CCDs.
The CCDs are full framed sensors with high-optical fill factor and sensitivity. The pixel size is 12 x 12 microns, offering a high-linear dynamic range (>12 bit). The architecture of the CCDs offers parallel readout registers on all four corners of the chip. Because of the two-dimensional area sensor, the image data has a known and precise geometry in X and Y directions. This provides a repetition rate for the system of one image every two seconds and high-readout rates, which is important for good Signal to Noise (S/N) ratio.
With DALSA’s products and support, Intergraph has developed one of the most advanced camera systems in the world for aerial photogrammetry.
Digital Still Cameras
DALSA’s CCD Image Sensors have been the driver for bringing digital imaging
to professional photography, and the FTF3020C
35mm-optical format 6-Mpixel CCD
has been the de-facto standard for many years.
Many digital cameras equipped with the FTF3020C are in everyday use, still fully satisfying the needs of their professional photographer owners. Practically all digital still camera makers have upgraded their cameras with the new FTF4027C CCD Image Sensor, which offers the best in picture performance, now with 11-Mpixel resolution. The combination of high dynamic range (>72dB), high read out speed and low power dissipation makes DALSA’s CCD Image Sensors exceptionally well-suited for professional DSC applications.
The logical next step in professional digital photography is to make a CCD Image Sensor dedicated for 645-format cameras. DALSA's FTF4052C offers the same superb pixel quality and an impressive 22-Mpixel resolution on a 48x36mm format for the highest fidelity available.
Several leading digital camera makers are using the FTF4052C in their products. One of the pioneers of digital camera backs benefited greatly from the compatibility of the FTF4027C and FTF4052C to make a 22-Mpixel digital camera back in record development time. Our customers appreciate the high frame-rate capabilities and low power dissipation of our CCDs. Both "Studio" and "On Location" photographic applications can benefit from a single camera system. The versatility of the camera brings greater flexibility and profitability and is key for the continued success of digital cameras.
Minilabs
Digital minilabs need to incorporate as many applications as possible. The
more applications end-users have at their disposal, the more products and
services they can offer their customers. Product and service diversification
enables them to position their company successfully. The benefits are higher
sales and improved profitability. Making use of the entire spectrum of analog
and digital picture products is the key to success.
DALSA’s FTF2416M and FTF3020M image sensors are recognized to be among the industry’s best for use in digital minilabs and wholesale lab equipment, and one of our customers is one of the world’s largest players in this market. We are proud to be considered an important strategic partner.
One of the applications used in minilabs is scanning and processing film to a digital format. This is where DALSA’s CCDs offer considerable benefit with high sensitivity and fast read-out.
The APS-sized FTF2416 is used in one of our leading customer's compact minilab with the advantage of combining the entire range of on-site processing, while only needing 1.6 m˛ of space. The customer particularly appreciates the unique size / performance ratio of the FTF2416.
The FTF3020 is used in powerful machines for digital wholesale and larger, more comprehensive minilabs. In this market speed is the most important feature. Besides its excellent overall performance, the FTF3020M offers a frame rate up to 20 fps.
