DALSA Corporation is an international high performance semiconductor and electronics company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets digital imaging products and solutions, in addition to providing specialized wafer foundry services. DALSA's core competencies are in specialized integrated circuit and electronics technology, image processing hardware and software, and highly engineered semiconductor wafer processing. Products include image sensor components; electronic digital cameras; vision processing hardware components; image processing software algorithms; and semiconductor wafer foundry services for use in MEMS, high-voltage semiconductors, image sensors, and mixed-signal CMOS chips. Our products are vital components in equipment for manufacturing machines for semiconductor foundries, automated machines for manufacturing electronic components and boards, digital x-ray equipment, DNA based laboratory test equipment, industrial automated manufacturing systems, professional photography and many other industrial applications.
DALSA was founded in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1980 by imaging pioneer Dr. Savvas Chamberlain, a former Professor in Electrical Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Originally the company concentrated in developing and generating technology in the area of Charge Coupled Device (CCD) image sensors. The company was capitalised in November 1984 and went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: DSA) in May 1996. The company has grown into an industry leader in digital imaging and semiconductor technology, employing approximately 1000 people world-wide with sales revenue of more than $168 Million. Sales offices across North America as well as in Germany and Japan support an international distribution network serving more than 40 countries.

DALSA's semiconductor wafer fabrication division, DALSA Semiconductor, is a center of excellence in Total Solution Silicon. This specialized manufacturing facility has a world class reputation as a manufacturer of semiconductor solutions to the electronics industry, particularly in the development and transfer of customized processes. The facility, acquired from Zarlink Semiconductor (formerly Mitel Corp.) in 2002, offers highly rated services in mixed signal CMOS and key specialty processes: High-Voltage CMOS (72-600V), MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical-systems), and tunable CCD and CCD-CMOS processes for scientific and industrial applications.
DALSA Semiconductor is an "open foundry," one of the few facilities in the world that can offer
specialized high-performance CCD, high-voltage CMOS, and MEMS processes to fabless companies
(all customers' designs and intellectual property are held in the strictest confidence).
